3/9 today’s person responsible for bringing busy season breakfast copped out and went to Ralph’s and got some doughnuts, lemon loaf, chocolate loaf, blueberry muffins (i had a sliver of all of these), and minute maid OJ. I guess we were spoiled to expect good stuff from bakeries so this was slightly disappointing.

California Pizza Kitchen (Downtown LA, CA)
Elclectic. K, B, N, and I went to lunch and ordered family-style. I tried the Mango Lemonade, which was pleasantly tasty. The complimentary bread followed, along with the Spinach artichoke dip (with blue and white corn tortilla chips), Chinese Chicken Salad (Shredded lettuce and crispy wontons tossed with julienne carrots, scallions, basil, toasted sesame seeds and fresh cilantro in a spicy sweet-and-sour sesame dressing topped with grilled chicken breast), Wild mushroom pizza (Cremini, Shiitake, Portobello and white mushrooms, Fontina and Mozzarella cheeses with a wild mushroom pesto. Garnished with chopped Italian parsley. Also available with chicken), Greek Pizza (Mediterranean spiced grilled chicken and Mozzarella cheese topped with a chilled Greek salad of cucumbers, red onions, fresh tomatoes, Greek olives, Feta cheese and a lemon herb vinaigrette. Served with our homemade Tzatziki sauce and chopped Italian parsley), and Fetticine with garlic cream sauce (Fettuccine in a garlic-Parmesan cream sauce with Italian parsley. Also available with Chicken or Shrimp and sautéed Mushrooms). Everything tasted great. The Greek Pizza has a lot of potential for bits and pieces that are not held down by cheese, so watch out for spillage.

Nick-n-Stefs (Downtown LA, CA)
Bar/Steakhouse. I really didn’t want to order any alcohol, but the director was buying for the group and everyone else ordered one, and since this isn’t high school and i’m over 21, i figure, why not. The two girls next to me on our table ordered a malibu pineapple, so i got one too. We had bruchetta (a lot of chopped tomatoes…do these usually come with cheese? there weren’t any here); calamari; nachos; chicken quesadilla; sweet potato fries; garlic fries; mac n cheese; two mini bar burgers w/ dill pickle; and three glasses of iced tea. Everything tastes good. I highly recommend the sweet potato fries, garlic fries and chicken quesadilla for taste and value.

3/8 Starbucks Coffee (Downtown LA, CA)
Coffee. Got an Americano today.

The snack provided at the weekly Busy Season Energy Break was ice cream bar. My second choice would have been the Breyer’s Strawberry fruit bar but I tried the Haagen Daaz ice cream bar instead. Good stuff.

3/7 Starbucks Coffee (Downtown LA, CA)
Coffee. Drank an caramel macchiato today. Vanilla and steamed milk are permeated with intense Starbucks espresso and topped with velvety foam and their own proprietary buttery caramel. The Brit gets the same thing every time.

E and I left the department meeting early and discovered food outside. we totally beat the crowd and grabbed 5 kinds of fine cheeses, one identifiable to me as smokey sharp cheddar. i also ate some kiwi, blueberries, blackberries, fiesta colored tortilla chips – i just picked out the plain uncolored ones, guacamole, and salsa.

Soon after, it was dinner time at the firm. the In-N-Out truck was outside again. somebody gave me their ticket so I was entitled to 4 burgers of my choice. Like everyone else, I had Double-doubles, times four. I had one for dinner, gave one away to the dude who held the door open at the lobby because i didn’t have enough hands, a half for a midnight snack, another half for breakfast, and then the last one for lunch the next day.

3/5 Starbucks Coffee (Downtown LA, CA)
Coffee. For some reason I was really tired today and so when the Brit wanted to take a caffeine break, I went and got a double expresso.
